It had only been over a decade when the musical collective, Foreign Exchange came out with their critically acclaimed debut, Connected and since then came out with a number of albums including their live DVD/CD set, Dear Friends: A Night with The Foreign Exchange and Leave It All Behind, which won them a Grammy nod for their “Daykeeper” single.

The Foreign Exchange is made up of rapper/vocalist Phonté Coleman (of Little Brother) and electronic producer Nicolay and has had a bevy of vocalists lend a hand in the making of their discography. After assisting two of their associates, YahZarah and Zo!, with albums, the Foreign Exchange released Authenticity. All three sets were issued in 2010 through The Foreign Exchange Music. 2013’s The Reworks preceded the group’s fourth studio album, Love In Flying Colors, which released in the same year.

The group issued the 2015 release of Tales From The Land Of Milk And Honey, a diverse set co-produced by Zo! that incorporated throwback house, Latin Jazz, and even a playful nod to funk legends Slave. This album was inspired by the group’s South African tour dates and the release of Nicolay’s City Lights, Vol. 3: Soweto.

The Foreign Exchange is pleased to present today a sampler of their 7th studio album, Hide & Seek, out on the Reel People Music label. Its labelhead Oli Lazarus, has been a massive fan of the collective for many years, so he was absolutely thrilled and honored that the guys agreed to take up the mantle of compiling Hide & Seek.

The goal of Hide & Seek is to showcase some incredible talent in the underground scene along with some artists and producers that you know and love.

To get your feet wet for the full album release, the collective released the album sampler with two stunning tracks: “Tonight We Ride” with DJ Spinna & the smooth vocals of Phonte and “The Beauty of Life” with longtime Detroit collaborators Pirahnahead & Diviniti featuring songstress Carmen Rodgers.

The sampler sets the tone for what will be a melodic beauty and I certainly cannot wait until the full album drops. You can grab the sampler out now on Traxsource.
