The Last JediStar Wars: The Last Jedi (also known as Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi) is an upcoming American epic space opera film written and directed by Rian Johnson. It is the second film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). The film is produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Gwendoline Christie in returning roles. New cast members include Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern, and Benicio del Toro. Fisher died in December 2016, making The Last Jedi her final film role.

The Last Jedi is all set to be the longest Star Wars movie ever. While speaking at a press conference, director Rian Johnson confirmed that The Last Jedi will be 2 hours and 30 minutes long, making it the longest film in the movie franchise so far.

At 150 minutes, this runtime passes George Lucas’ 2002 prequel Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, which timed in at 142 minutes.
