MopTop, a New England native who relocated to Chicago then New York City a few years ago, continues to break down genre-specific barriers as both a DJ and music producer. His eclectic style of mixing and production has captured the attentions of publications such as NY Magazine, The Chicago Reader, URB Magazine (Next 100), and more.
Today, he delivers a new single, “The Moon,” featuring Telli from Ninjasonik, G.R.A.M.Z. and singer, Mairys Joaquin.
The release comes at the close of a Summer that presented numerous opportunities for MopTop. In these past few months, MopTop has performed in Chicago, Boston, Philly and New York city – opening up for acts such as Talib Kweli, Zara Larsen, and Jason Derule.
“The Moon” is the perfect example of MopTop‘s multifaceted musical style – one that he’s cultivated and perfected for a number of years in Chicago’s underground music scene.
A staple in NYC culture, Telli, has contributed a lifetime of pivotal music, fashion, and creative platforms. He has molded and paved the way for many artists – starting with his internationally known band, NinjaSonik. He has toured the world alongside artists like Diplo, and MIA. And is one of the pioneers to events like Art Basel, and SXSW.
Brooklyn Hip Hop artist, G.R.A.M.Z. continues to establish himself in Hip Hop with music that can be easily played anywhere from SoHo lounges to gritty basement parties – and everything else in between. The up and coming talent has been supported musically by the likes of Flatbush Zombies, Curren$y, Ski Beatz, The Cool Kids, and A$AP Mob; to name a few.
