Baltimore’s Nnadagi (formerly known as “Milly July”) returns with her new single “I’ll Be Alright“, a West African influenced clash of Hip-Hop, Pop and EDM – as Nnadagi says “I wanted to make a song my grandmother back in Nigeria could dance to.”
Nigerian-American MC and Baltimore native Nnadagi stands out as representative of more than her roots, but also a beacon of light for fans of futuristic flows. Nnadagi pushes the conventions of hip-hop while keeping the beat of West Africa in the periphery of her complex soundscape.
Formerly known as “Milly July”, Nnadagi burst onto the scene back in 2009 with a mixtape titled ‘Sneak Chamber.’ During this time, he was also featured on Hypebeast’s first mixtape with Tyler, the Creator and was in a band with Charles Hamilton. Following these experiences, she stepped away from the music scene to work on herself and her sound.
Nnadagi aspires to use her musical contributions as a community service. “I want to help people because, I don’t think people should suffer as they do,” she says. With her upcoming EP ‘Favor’ on the horizon, stay tuned to watch her impact take shape.
