Melbourne multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/throwback queen Phoebe Dubar today releases 80s-tinged anthem to positivity & resilience, ‘Pushing On’ (prod. Amin Payne).
The first single released underneath her own moniker, ‘Pushing On’ showcases Dubar’s evocative vocals over a blend of layered retro analog synths. Operatives member/Condensed Milk co-founder Amin Payne‘s production pays meticulous tribute to bygone decades, interpolating warm chord stabs with thumping live bass and bubbling arpeggios.
Phoebe Dubar is no newcomer – as the frontperson of galactic soul breaks trio PASSERINE & a bunch of local funk/soul outfits, she has been a presence in Melbourne’s live music scene for the past decade. Performing headline shows and with the likes of Boney M and Sex On Toast, Dubar has also trod the stages at festivals such as The Hills Are Alive, St Kilda Festival, Moombaand more; her work has gained praise from local and international media. With 2018 right around the corner, there’s more to come from this formidable talent.
