Queer Malaysian artist alextbh will soon release brand new single titled “superstore.”
Living openly gay and unafraid to express his queer identity, alextbh is an anomaly among a highly conservative and unaccepting Malaysian society where the government has been outspokenly opposed to the LGBTQIA+ community.
For him, music is not only an outlet for resistance but a platform to incite change.
With support already coming from i-D, PAPER, V Magazine, Billboard, Wonderland, Pride.com, etc surrounding his recent singles “still mine” “walls,” “no space,” alextbh is on a fast rise leading into 2020.
Riding a line between lush r&b and industrial pop, the Kuala Lumpur native is no stranger to stages across Southeast Asia, performing opening slots for Khalid, Clean Bandit, Sevdaliza, and Jess Connelly, as well as playing festivals such as Good Vibes Festival in Malaysia and Laneway Festival in Singapore.
He will next support Yuna on a Dec ’19 European tour.
Since his 2016 debut release “tbh,” alextbh has amassed 30 million+ Spotify streams with track “Stoop So Low” garnering 18 million streams alone. He’s also been featured on the cover of Spotify Malaysia’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlist:
