Two of the nineties most prolific Hi Hop squads combine forces for “Camp-Wu”. The new single from Rock of Heltah Skeltah fame is joined by BCC alum Smif & Wessun and core Wu members, Inspectah Deck and Method Man –
With the upcoming release of Rock’s first ever solo album, “Rockness A.P.” and Wu-Tang’s “The Saga Continues”, the nineties strike back with a fiery vengeance for “Camp-Wu” and it’s nothing short of brilliance. Produced by Ford Tuff and Pascal Zumaque, the two combine a vintage video game sounding beat over rough drums that are carried by a steady tambourine. Boot Camp Click and Wu-Tang fans will be in awe after one listen. Get blessed with witty lyricism from Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Steele & Tek and Heltah Skeltah’s Rock. Carried out in classic emcee fashion, the team effort also serves as a shoutout to Rock’s fallen comrade, Sean Price.
Jahmal Bush aka Rock is one half of iconic rap duo Heltah Skeltah along with the late, great, Sean Price. He’s also a member of the legendary Brooklyn hip-hop collective, Boot Camp Clik. A towering figure on and off the stage, Rock has been a revered emcee, trademarked by his unmistakable deep voice, complicated, multi-syllable rhyme patterns. He’s also known for his charismatic stage performance since bursting onto the music scene with Duckdown Records in the mid 90’s. As Heltah Skeltah, P and Rock would go on to sell hundreds of thousands of albums worldwide, releasing two critically acclaimed LP’s, 1996’s Nocturnal and 1998’s Magnum Force.
Now, after a roller coaster ride through the industry, culminating in the untimely passing of Sean Price in August of 2015, Rock, now signed to Digital Deja Vu Records, is poised to return with his first ever solo studio album, “Rockness A.P.”, dropping September 22nd.
