South London’s Benjamin A.D (B.A.D) returns with his brand new single ‘Check In’.
While our summer draws to an end, the Lewisham native bottles airplane mode and warm weather into three minutes of mellowed out bliss, offering listeners a moment of paradise amidst the stresses of normality.
“’Check In’ was a song made to capture the checking in process of a holiday, mixed with the theme of excitement and lack of personal responsibility that comes with a break, and being in a nice foreign beautiful land,” says Benjamin A.D. “Throughout the verses and the hook I detail the process of landing, going too wild and carrying on my next days as normal.”
It’s hazy Ray Fiasco-directed accompanying visual shot in Los Angeles captures slow summer days in the sun, where the sea washes away life’s worries and palm trees punctuate the horizon.
Produced by regular collaborator WAVSDNTDIE, the track follows the melancholy soul of ‘When It Don’t Make Sense’, and further establishes the free-flowing blend of bars and melodies that Benjamin A.D has been developing during his recent hiatus.
After some time away from the limelight, he’s returning to the game with the feeling of creative liberation and intends to empower others: “I feel like for a long time I was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole,” he admits. “Now I’m just going to be myself. I’m going to be honest. And hopefully that can make a change. I think there’s going to be people all over the world that can resonate with what I’m doing.”
