After releasing a pair of critically praised songs, Sydney-based group Deep Sea Arcade have just unveiled their stunning new single ‘Close To Me’ – lifted from their forthcoming sophomore record, ‘Blacklight’
‘Close To Me’ is a dreamy melting pot of psychedelia, slacker-rock and 70’s-inspired soul. Led by its trip-hop rhythmic section and subtle splashes of melancholic keys, the mesmerising track comes to life with endearing frontman Nic Mckenzie’s striking melodies, which float elegantly from start-to-finish. Melodic guitar lines rear their head in the latter half, capping off a meticulously composed piece of indie-rock.
Previously released singles from the album ‘Learning To Fly’ and ‘Outlaw’ were strongly supported by the likes of triple j, Double J, FM4 (AUT), 3FM (NDL), FBi, 4ZZZ and 3RRR, and Spotify – who added the tracks to their curated and viral playlists ‘New Music Friday’, ‘New Music Buzz’, ‘The Office Stereo’, ‘Broad Chords’ and ‘New Zealand Viral 50’.
‘Learning To Fly’ was fiercely embraced by worldwide tastemaker blogs such as Indie Shuffle (USA), The Revue (CAN), and Little Indie Blogs (UK), which resulted in a #1 position on the esteemed Hype Machine Now Charts.
‘Blacklight’ was released on Friday, October 26 via LP Records/Universal Music Australia, alongside tour dates and an accompanying video for ‘Close To Me’.
