Since Haleek Maul burst onto the scene aged just 16, he’s worked with like-minded artists Clams Casino, Ryan Hemsworth, Le1f, and Saul Williams, released two EP’s and a mixtape, and is now finishing work on his debut album. Vice and NME have both described him as a “rap prodigy”. Brockhampton’s Dom McLennon referred to his most recent music video as “one of the best things I’ve seen this year”. New single ‘Ceiling Fan’ is produced by Kelela collaborator P. Morris.
Talking about the track to The FADER “The idea was to take rap tropes and spin them, Ss using my accent, and the typical subject matter of a song like that with a lot of energy and spinning it and making it my own. Even though it’s a really hype song there’s some moments of lucidity and consciousness. That’s what I wanted to put in the song, and that’s what I want to do with all my new music. My personality is gonna be on display.”
