Following the recent release of his critically-acclaimed fourth album Assume Form on Republic Records, Grammy-nominee and Mercury Prize winner James Blake debuts the video for “Mile High (ft. Travis Scott & Metro Boomin).” Directed by Nabil (Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean) in Los Angeles, the visual features Blake and Scott escaping reality at Mile High Cafe. “Mile High” was released to rave reviews, with Zane Lowe featuring it as his World Record on Beats1, exclaiming “James Blake, you’ve done it again,” and MTV declaring the track “a perfect marriage of their distinct sounds: an atmospheric banger with Scott’s signature bass hits, Blake’s innate melancholy mood, and Metro’s hypnotic textures.” Watch the visual for “Mile High” here: https://youtu.be/pkHlze-Pg3g
Assume Form was instantly embraced by fans and the media upon release, with The Associated Press proclaiming “listening to “Assume Form” proves Blake is more than a musician’s musician — and that he could be on his way to pop star status.” Consequence of Sound pronounces, “Assume Form is a remarkable achievement by one of the most original songwriters of his generation,” HYPEBEAST declares, “the British musical mastermind has provided listeners with one of the most exciting installments yet in the young artist’s career,” and The FADER asserts, “Assume Form introduces joy and romance to Blake’s music, and it’s all the better for it.”
Assume Form sees Blake teaming up with an all-star cast including Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Moses Sumney, ROSALÍA, and André 3000. Idolator featured “Barefoot In The Park” as one of their best songs of the week, calling it “one of the many highlights on the Brit’s just-released Assume Form album, this is a haunting collaboration with Spanish star ROSALÍA that lingers in the mind long after the song ends,” and Esquire pronounced “Where’s The Catch?,” featuring André 3000, “one of the most beautiful and thought provoking songs about mental health in this era of music.” Blake is no stranger to collaborating; having quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after producers, songwriters, and singers in the music industry, Blake has worked alongside everyone from Beyoncé and Frank Ocean to Jay Z, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Mount Kimbie, among countless others. In just the last year, Blake co-wrote “Element” on Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., collaborated on the revolutionary Black Panthersoundtrack, and performed “Stop Trying To Be God” alongside Travis Scott on the MTV Video Music Awards.
Blake will tour in support of Assume Form Son his recently announced headlining North American tour, kicking off in Atlanta on February 18th. The 17-date tour will make stops in major cities across the U.S. and Canada including Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Montreal, and 2 nights in New York City, before wrapping in Los Angeles on March 16 (see full list of dates below). Tickets are available for purchase now viahttp://www.jamesblakemusic.com/.
