Only his second single release, Jeida Woods recently shared ‘LVESCK’, an incredible example of the Sydney-based youngster’s immense talent. Again collaborating with producer Lucianblomkamp (known for his work with 6LACK), his first two singles have seen support from around the globe. Today he shares the brooding video for ‘LVESCK’ – filmed while Jeida was in New York earlier this year, it serves as a perfect accompaniment to Woods’ dark, moody RnB.
Of the track, Jeida says; ‘The video for LVESCK happened quite randomly. I was chatting with Zachary Dov Wiesel (the director) online and I happened to be over in NYC, where he lives, so the timing worked out perfectly. We wanted to create a video that has a different aesthetic and also have a story to showcase the darkness of the song. I came up with the idea of having a girl that was “faceless” throughout the video to highlight the anonymity throughout the song’s theme. A lot of the shots in the video were captured with really opportune timing as the city of NY created essentially a free window of opportunity and canvas to get some dope shots.’
Zambian born, Sydney based r&b / trap soul artist Jeida Woods is a triple threat; singer, songwriter and producer. His music centres around stories of dark romance, intimacy and breakups; sonically fitting perfectly alongside the likes of Partynextdoor, Bryson Tiller and The Weeknd’s early mixtape days.
The 21 year old started pursuing a music career in his teens, learning to write and produce in his bedroom, before stepping out into the spotlight with his debut, Lucianblomkamp produced single ‘Selfless’ in July this year. The single received instant praise from global media, with coverage by international tastemakers The Line Of Best Fit, 2DopeBoyz and Earmilk, plus antipodean influencers Sniffers, Acclaim Magazine and Filter Zine; the latter poignantly quoting ‘it’s a dark, decadent slice of contemporary R&B that tugs on enough heartstrings to have appeal well beyond Australia’s borders’.
One thing is clear, Jeida is just getting started – with a sound that belies his years, it’s only a matter of time before his talent shines through on a global stage.
