Bittersweet RnB at its finest
Swedish-Iranian songstress Ayelle has kicked off 2017 with latest single “Issues”. Produced by the Berlin duo BLYNE, “Issues” is yet another confronting track from the London based artist, all communicated amidst an electronic RnB and trap influenced soundscape.
“Abusive personalities can make you feel as if you can’t live without them, their love or their approval. Ultimately, they wish to control you, and will use whatever means available to them to do so. Even after you think you’ve gotten away from them, the abuse continues, and ‘issues’ is about the aftermath that follows.”
Possessing a bittersweet R&B sound has been likened to Banks, Kelela, and Wafia, Ayelle‘s downtempo, urban sensibilities can be defined as arousing pleasure tinged with sadness or pain. You can be sure she will be carving her place in the female R&B scene before too long.
Drawing inspiration from her own life experiences, she often incorporates feminist elements into her lyrics, which challenge the status quo.
“Ayelle has more on her mind than just making quality tunes, and her single turns out to be a smart, blunt takedown of society’s view of women” – The Line of Best Fit.
