Marble Empire – “Throw Away” ft. Natalie Green (Video) | @MarbleEmpire |

Marble Empire (aka 21year old Londoner Matt Berry) has just released his debut mixtape release ‘Marble Empire & Friends’ which features collaborations with Katya DJ, Karimthapeasant, Tchengiz, Milo Gore and Kate Lomas. Also featuring on the mixtape is Natalie Green who is a childhood school friend of Matt’s and Natalie also stars in the new video for ‘Throw Away’ which has just been revealed today.

Matt, a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, keys and drums) writes and produces all his own material, which he describes as a blend of, ‘gritty basslines, jazz harmony and guitar lines soaked in effects’. He describes the meaning behind his new single ‘Throw Away’ as ‘being scared to split with someone that you’ve become so accustomed to being with for a long time but in the end it’s normally for the best! ‘

The video for ‘Throw Away’ was directed by Jay Jones and filmed by Tom La Motte. ‘I  have collaborated with Tom for a couple of videos in the past, ‘Head Above The Water’ and ‘Twenty’ so it was great to be back working together again. As an experience working on this video felt like a real milestone for me, it’s the biggest and most planned production that we’ve done. ‘

The story of the video portrays a young guy as he goes through a series of dead end relationships which all start out great abut always end in the same way – with them throwing it all away.’ I think this is a very easy video for people to relate to generally as we have all been there with various partners over time. The video cuts in and out with clips of myself and Natalie singing from each end of the space that we use as if we are narrating what is happening on set.

Influenced by a range of artists including Ben Khan, Jungle, SG Lewis and Frank Ocean,  Marble Empire was named in BBC6 Music’s Top 30 for 2017. Subsequent single releases have  quickly gained him attention from BBC Introducing , Gary Crawley BBC6. His singles have also featured on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ and ‘Monday Spin’.
