United Kingdom recording artist Marcel speaks on new found fame on his latest release, “They Wanna Know”
Having rose to fame with boyband Blazin Squad in 2002 after they released a cover of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony song Crossroads which reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart. Marcel aka Rocky B went on to secure seven top ten hits, including Flip Reverse and Love on the Line, before securing himself as a finalist on the 2017 hit reality TV show Love Island.
Now, in between TV fame and media commitments, Marcel looks to cement himself as a serious artist with the unveiling of his latest offering They Wanna Know, his first offering off of his forthcoming EP in 2019. He is known as a ‘national treasure’ by a number of tabloids and last year saw the release of his first solo single, Someone, which reached number 10 in the Itunes chart.
Marcel is an innovative artist who is constantly moving his sound forward and pushing boundaries. Having honed his sound into captivating UK Afro Swing with influences of R&B, his latest material uses personal experiences from the past couple of years to deliver a new release that is rich in dance vibes, honesty and power. He capitalizes on his unique sound and impressive songwriting that gives him a head-turning edge that demands to be heard.
On the narrative behind They Wanna Know, Marcel shares: “They Wanna Know is a brief reflection of one aspect of my life after leaving the Love Island Villa, talking about the new found fame that comes with a lot of new attention.”
