Misty Mtn – “Float On” (Modest Mouse cover) | @mistymtnmusic |

Brooklyn-based indie pop duo Misty Mtn heads towards the release of their debut EP (Spring 2019) with their new single, “Float On,” out March 20. Produced by the band and mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, Salt Cathedral, Charli XCX) – Misty Mtn breathes new, ethereal pop life into the alt-rock classic.

Influenced by their western roots – Morissa having grown up singing at the rodeo in Montana and Lucas in indie bands in his hometown of Los Angeles – Morissa Trunzo and Lucas Segall joined musical forces under the moniker Misty Mtn in late 2017 in Brooklyn, NY.

After releasing singles “Guess Who’s Back” and “We’ll Call It Even” last year, the duo received press attention from the likes of Earmilk, Popdust, BUST, & The Wild Honey Pie, earned endorsements from brands such as Warby Parker, Sofar Sounds, & Treble FM.

The Modest Mouse original came out in 2004 at the height of the Bush administration. In an interview with the A.V. Club, Isaac Brock had this to say about the song:

“It was a completely conscious thing. I was just kind of fed up with how bad shit had been going, and how dark everything was, with bad news coming from everywhere. Our president George W. Bush is just a fucking daily dose of bad news! Then you’ve got the well-intentioned scientists telling us that everything is fucked. I just want to feel good for a day.”

This sentiment felt more timely than ever to the band, who decided to do their own take on the song.
