Producer and keyboardist pantology harnesses a multi-genre sound of undeniable depth. Raised by classical musicians and playing piano before he could speak, he later became enamored with the sounds of jazz, soul, and funk. With his debut single “Never Enough”, pantology has gone on to create adventurous, beat-driven instrumental music that honors influences such as Flying Lotus, Bill Evans and J Dilla, while continuing to push his own musical boundaries forward into fresh new territory.
This is the lead single off of an upcoming EP, 2Q19, which serves as the first track and introduction. Another soundscape constructed with only drum samples and live recorded instruments, the track includes pantology’s vocals and keyboards and the saxophone of NYC jazz saxophonist Sergei Avanesov. The introduction features sweeping synths, fleeting keys, and vocals, evoking a modern fall from grace, and transitions into a slumping post-bop and Rhodes-laden modal beat – the daily trudge onward in a dystopian 2019.
